75000 # 006 - Jean-Manuel Simoes

For this series on Paris, after spending hours searching the archives to rediscover lost pictures on the forgotten contact sheets, I spend my days in the darkroom to make my prints on fiber paper. The recovered stock of the out-of-date paper had come to an end, and I had to put one hand in the pocket to buy the few boxes that will finish the series.
The oldest photo in this series dates back to 1997, the latest, 2016. A series that spans almost twenty years could be considered as a measure tool for a photographer’s life. Without knowing that fact, it is impossible to presuppose; what one hand gives me that not much has changed, on the other hand my actual eye originates much further than I could imagine.
