African anniversary - Jean-Manuel Simoes

2014-1994, twenty years ago the dirty war in Rwanda. Such a long time that I had almost forgotten this work, until the phone call last week for an exhibition proposal for the anniversary.
I spent part of my weekend with pictures of dead bodies, prisons, prisoners … I had plenty to do, but I like spending time on the archival material. A time travel that photography offers to those who can appreciate.
No one has mentioned the anniversary of the death of a million people; wars have nothing to teach us, news are so new: Syria, Iraq makes his coming back, the Islamist threat, Ukraine, Valls … privacy french president life on the “Paris-t”chtche” side, the casino online return of Sarkozy, the Marine”s boys…
We almost forget that officially we are 3.4 million “unemployed” in France. We do not count the applicants for subventions, funds and aid, in all kinds otherwise the MEDEF Boys”Band included in the “social” box.
While Rwanda and its million dead, by the way black people… and Africa is so far
Me too it”s my birthday. Fifty, it starts to count down
