Christmas, sun and darkroom - Jean-Manuel Simoes
On winter, as a lot of people I miss sun and heat. The days are short, low temperatures, cold, humidity, and the gray continuous weighing. City life is crazy, with fatigue and lack of time, stress sets in, and instead of listening to our body that says ”cool boy, rest!” we will all be flowing into stores to meet these frustrations by Christmas shopping.
I look at my contact sheets of the previous summers, then I lock myself in the darkroom and do the edited online casino pictures. Not having the means to leave in the sun, take pictures and watch me back to those happy moments experienced. The calm and solitude of the darkroom allow this beautiful Madeleine de Proust that is photography to give me what I can”t really offer. I do not know the extent to which these sensations are transmitted, but take them as a gift that I offer, hoping that it gives you the same happiness to me.
Oddly enough the summer I do not need to take photos of snow. This belies the adage that it always seeks what is not !
